William “Bill” C. Sleight, age 86, died March 1, 2020, at his home in Heber City. He was born on April 8, 1933, to Joseph and Ruth Forward Sleight, in Moreland, Idaho. He married Opal May Clegg on September 13, 1952, which was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. After Opal’s death in 1997, Bill married Eva Young on September 1, 1999, in the Provo Temple.
Bill was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He worked hard all of his life to provide a great life for his family. Bill loved being a father and grandfather and making each one feel special. He had a green thumb and would grow a beautiful vegetable garden every year. He loved watching BYU football and the Utah Jazz. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he held various positions in the church. One of his greatest accomplishments was serving a mission with his wife, Eva, in the Illinois, Chicago, mission from December 2001-November 2003. He had a strong testimony of eternal families and of his Savior, Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Eva; two daughters, Mrs. Don (Frances) Young (St. George, UT) and Mrs. Raymond (Ruth) Sweat (Heber, UT); stepchildren, Carolyn (Dave) Darlington (Rock Springs, WY), Frank (Wendy) Young (Lyman, WY), Patrica (Matt) Eardley (Mountain View, WY), Charlie (Barbara) Young (Lyman, WY), and Gordon (Leaca) Young (Cantwell, AK); 18 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren; and brother, Thomas Wayne Sleight. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one granddaughter, one great grandchild, and his wife Opal.
