Service wasn’t simply something she did, it was who she was.

With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Wendy Duke Bangerter, who passed away on July 2, 2026, in Heber City, Utah, at the age of 63.

Wendy was born on July 25, 1962, in Heber City, Utah, to Neil Hal Duke and Nelda Jean Casper. She spent her life rooted in the community she loved, devoting herself wholeheartedly to her family, friends, and all those around her.

She graduated from Wasatch High school in 1980 and later attended Hollywood Beauty School. On October 4, 1985, Wendy married Kipp Clark Bangerter. One year later, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they built a home centered on faith, family, kindness, and unconditional love.

If Wendy had a hobby, it was caring for people. Service wasn’t simply something she did, it was who she was. Her home was always open, her table always had room for one more, and everyone who crossed her path was treated like family. Nothing brought her more joy than having her family together. Every Sunday, her home was filled with children, grandchildren, laughter, and a meal she lovingly prepared. Those weekly dinners became the heartbeat of her family and one of the many ways she expressed her love. They were never just meals, they were a reflection of who Wendy was.

She continually sought to lift those around her and exemplify Christlike love.

While Wendy leaves behind a cherished legacy within her own family, her influence extends far beyond it. For more than 30 years, she lovingly cared for countless children, providing a safe and welcoming home filled with kindness, laughter, and unconditional love. The love she freely gave left a lasting impact on generations of children and their families.

Wendy also had a love for good food. Whether she was cooking, baking, or happily enjoying a bucket of KFC, food was one of the many ways she expressed her love for others. Anyone who entered her home was offered some of her famous homemade chocolate chip cookies, salsa, or pressed apple juice. She also had a special place in her heart for her beloved dog, Toby, whose companionship brought her countless happy moments over the years.

Above all, Wendy had a deep and abiding testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, which guided every aspect of her life. She found great joy in serving the Lord and faithfully accepted many callings throughout her years in the Church. Whether offering a kind word, a listening ear, or quiet acts of service, she continually sought to lift those around her and exemplify Christlike love. In her later years, she especially cherished serving as the Relief Society President at the Heber Valley Care Center, where she ministered with compassion, brought comfort and friendship to the residents, and strengthened the faith of those she served. Her unwavering devotion to the Savior and her selfless service left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Wendy is survived by her devoted husband, Kipp Bangerter; her five children: Lindsey (Jess) Richins, Kasey (Kaeli) Bangerter, Colton (Jessa) Bangerter, Carson (Mckinlee) Bangerter, and Madison (Alissa) Bangerter; 13 beloved grandchildren; her sister, Gayla (Kevin) Di Stefano; her brother, David Duke; her sister-in-law, Laurie Duke; her mothers-in-law, Fern Spanos and Rauna Bangerter; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Neil and Nelda Duke; her fathers-in-law, Michael Spanos and Del Bangerter; her brother, Paul “Bummer” Duke; and her brother-in-law, Kent Bangerter.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at the Daniel 1st Ward Building, 2285 S. Daniels Road, Heber City, Utah 84032. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the many friends, neighbors, and loved ones who have surrounded them with prayers, kindness, and support during this difficult time.
