Virginia “Ginny” Sanatar gently passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the age of 84. Known to some as “Gigi,” she was surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren at her home in Midway, Utah. Ginny was born June 23, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York and was the first child of Eleanor D. (Olsen) and George K. Lang. She was married in 1959 to her husband, Pat J. Sanatar.
Ginny loved growing up in New York with many of her family members living only blocks away. Her love of travel began with her European honeymoon with Pat. She had fun sharing fond memories of her continued travels with him, family members, and friends. The highlight of her professional career as a Software Engineer in the defense sector culminated while working on U.S. aircraft carriers stationed in the Gulf of Mexico. Ginny was known for being an avid mystery reader and longtime volunteer and board member for both Meals on Wheels (Fullerton) and the Friends Foundation (Placentia) at her local library. She ran marathons; enjoyed cycling with her friends; played golf, soccer, and a mean hand of Gin Rummy. Ginny loved the beach, collecting seashells, and swimming out beyond the breaking waves to seek that special moment in the sun.
Ginny is survived by her children, daughter, Stefani Sanatar and Tony Somarriba; son, Chris and Eunmee Sanatar; daughter, Jennifer and Dave Brewer; grandchildren Kailey, Joshua, Cade, Kaia; bonus grandchild, Dalton; sister, Barbara Boettjer; sister-in-law, Kathy Lang; sister-in-law, Abby “Sissy” Berry; as well as Ginny’s many beloved nieces, their families, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pat; brother, George “Bud” Lang; brother-in-law, George Boettjer; and her parents George and Eleanor.
