Veva Clegg

Our beloved Mother, and Grandmother Veva Clegg passed away on February 5th, 2024, at the age of 93 in her home in El Cajon, CA, surrounded by family. Veva Miles Clegg was born to Edgar Miles and Olive Thacker Miles on the 4th of July, 1930 in Mount Emmons, Utah. She was the eighth child of ten in her family. She grew up on a family dairy farm in Altamont, Utah where she learned the value of hard work. She met the love of her life, Edwin Clegg, at a dance, and they married in Heber, Utah on April 22nd, 1949.

Edwin and Veva moved from Utah to San Diego, CA in 1952, where they grew their family and started a successful construction company. Veva was a devoted mother and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and enjoyed reading and teaching her family about her ancestors, especially her pioneer ancestors, who came across the plains.

Veva is survived by daughter Veva Jean Thing (Frank), daughter Donna Lee McNew (Shane), daughter Linda May Keach (Troy), and daughter-in-law Robin Clegg. Veva is predeceased by her husband, Edwin Clegg, son Michael Edwin (Robin), and son Sammey Clegg. Veva was a mother to five children, grandmother to 12, great-grandmother to 30, and great-great-Grandmother to 8, with one on the way. The Family wanted to extend a special thank you to her caregiver, Kim Sutton, who spent countless hours caring for Veva.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 9th. Viewing starting at 11:00 AM, and funeral to follow at 12:00 noon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2425 Tavern Road Alpine, CA 91901, with luncheon to follow. A second viewing and service will be held in Utah on Friday February 16th at the Center of Town, 15600 W 4000 N, Altamont, UT 84001. The viewing will be from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM with the services to follow at 1:00 PM. Veva will be laid to rest at the Altamont Cemetery, luncheon to follow.
