Verne “Kent” Burnside beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away December 4, 2016 in Provo, Utah. Born the 12th and final child of Earl and Hannah Ericksen Burnside in Mt. Pleasant Utah on August 13, 1943. Kent graduated from Granite High in 1961. Kent married Judy McBride in Salt Lake City on March 23, 1963, marriage solemnized in the Manti Temple in 1967. From this marriage four children were born; Bart, JoEll, Camille, and Kristine. Kent and Judy were later divorced. Kent later married Judy Diamond and loved her three children, Daniel, Shannon, and Nicole as his own. They were later divorced. In his younger years Kent loved camping, hunting, bowling and enjoyed these activities with many close friends. Kent had a great love of the Green Bay Packers and shared that love with his family. He was a collector of many things and especially enjoyed collecting 2002 Olympic memorabilia.
Kent was a member of the LDS church and especially enjoyed his calling serving as Executive Secretary to President Barker and Bishop Clements. Kent worked at Geneva Steel for over 20 years and loved calling the Orem Valley home. In recent years Kent relocated to Heber City where his daughter, JoEll provided an especially insurmountable amount of love and care to him. Kent is preceded in death by his parents, 10 brothers and sisters, 2 grandsons, and 2 granddaughters. Survived by sister, Anna Nielsen. Children: Bart (Geri) Burnside, JoEll (David) Rowley, Camille (Eric) Allen, and Kristine Greenland, 16 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
The family would like to thank The Cascades at Orchard Park, Doctors and Nurses at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center and the hospice staff for their love, care, and support of our Dad in his final days. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 9th, 2016. Viewing from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Heber 15th Ward, 715 East 600 South, Heber City, Utah.
