Veral James Mair 1925 – 2022
Our dear father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, and uncle enjoyed an amazing life for 97 years and then passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 17, 2022 after a short illness surrounded by his family.
Veral was born March 13, 1925, in Heber City, Utah and was the second of three boys to John William and Hazel Ivie Mair. He married the love of his life, Wanda Mae Orgill, on August 12, 1945. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 15, 1971.
Veral worked in the coal mines as a young man and moved to Salt Lake City after marriage and developed his trade as a painter. After retirement, he and Wanda spent winter months in Mesa, Arizona and St George, Utah. They also enjoyed countless visits to Palm Springs, California. Veral was active in Boy Scouting and enjoyed many hobbies such as bowling, golfing, camping, hunting, fishing, boating, square dancing, traveling and spending time with his family. His family will always remember the kind, remarkable, giving man that he was.
Veral is survived by his four children LaWanna Henderson, Shirley (Vic)
Hanson, Kent (Debbie) Mair, and Randy (Jonathan) Mair, his brother Don (Charlene) Mair, 13 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, parents, brother Arnold (Hilda) Mair, son-in-law Eddie Henderson, and two grandchildren (Valerie Davidson and Michelle Terry).
Viewings will be held on Monday, November 28th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:30 -11:30 a.m. with talks from the children from 11:30a.m. -Noon at Heber Valley Funeral Home, 288 North Main Street, Heber City, Utah. Graveside Family Prayer will be at 12:30 p.m. at the Heber City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at
