Val Ray Todd, born March 25, 1945 on Easter Sunday to Kenneth and Gertrude Todd of Granger, UT having normally been of sound mind and body, died on January 20, 2022 of natural causes in Heber City, UT. He served in both the Army Reserve and Utah Air National Guard and was proud to be an American, but was saddened by how politics had become so volatile and tribal in his later years. He worked in the office of IML Freight for 16 years before its demise. Then he worked in the administration at UTA another 26 years. He loved traveling the world, especially with his family when they could go, and went on over 30 cruises before Covid-19 changed things. He rode his Harley trike to Alaska from Utah twice after retiring. He loved hiking and backpacking, especially in the Wind River Mountains of WY, and climbed the highest peak in every state except Denali, in AK, which he attempted 4 times. He climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro (Kili) in Africa when he was 60 and attempted Mt. Aconcagua in Argentina after that. He also climbed several of the Colorado 14ers. He liked cycling and cycled the Oregon Coast while in his 50’s. He liked reading, photography, and most types of music, but NOT rap, which he didn’t consider as music. He served in several callings in his LDS church wards including that of 15 years as Scoutmaster and was awarded the Silver Beaver. Val was a planner, which included writing his own obituary. His siblings are: Jay M. Todd; Leonard V Todd (deceased); and Jennie Lea Todd (deceased). He married his childhood sweetheart, Vickie Lou Moffet in the SLC Temple on June 12, 1967 and is survived by her and his children: Scott J. Todd; Holly V. Todd; and Heather M. Todd Skousen (Jerome).
