Teri Jean Myatt Smith passed away Friday, April 3, 2020, surrounded by her family, after a short battle with a rare type of cancer. Teri was born March 20, 1956 in Abilene, Texas to Bobby Wayne and Charlotte Lee Hall Myatt.
Teri was the oldest of four, with siblings who loved her very much. She grew up along the coastline of California, as her dad served as a Chaplain in the Navy. It was there that she gained a deep love for the beach and ocean. She graduated from Oceanside High School in 1974 and then attended college. While living in Southern California as young adult, she discovered her love for the Food and Beverage industry where she acquired her legendary name “Too Tall Teri.” Whether you knew “Too Tall” from her early days at Landells, Dana Villa, Margarita Village, Goodies or her latter days at the Draft House, The Train Stop, Stein Eriksen Lodge or The Canyons, you knew she was the life of the party. With her witty comebacks or her wildly animated stories, she always had you laughing and entertained.
Teri met both of her former husbands working in San Clemente, CA. She and her first husband, Russ Primrose, met in the late 1970’s, had their daughter Tiana in 1981, and separated a couple years later. She then met her second husband Theodore Smith, the father of Dylan and Elijah in 1987. Teri and Ted raised their family in Southern California, Nevada and Utah, where they finally settled in Heber City. When they decided to part ways, Teri continued to raise her family and eventually gained a son-in-law, Billy Macdonald and adopted another son, Patrick Maine. Both sons quickly became part of the pack. Teri was a mother figure to all of her children's friends and always had requests by them, as well as her friends, to make her infamous “Too Tall's Tacos” for special occasions.
If you knew Teri, you probably loved her beautiful long hair and her infectious smile. You knew she loved all music, but her favorite band of all time was the Beatles. You knew she was a loyal friend to have and you felt lucky to have her. You also knew that her greatest love of all was her children, but more importantly her grandchildren. She lived and fought for them!!
In the last years of her life, Teri moved back to Las Vegas and was a caretaker for her mom for the past nine years. After her mom passed in 2019, Teri was able to move back to Heber to be with her children and grandchildren. Shortly after arriving, she found out she was sick and instantly began her battle. It was short-lived, but she fought like the warrior she was, when most would have quit. In the end, she was surrounded by the ones she loved most.
Teri is survived by her children Tiana (Billy) Primrose-Macdonald, Dylan (Jen) Smith, Elijah (Alyssa) Smith, Patrick (Stephanie) Maine, her grandchildren Remmi and Mac Macdonald, Knox Smith and Ellie Smith, siblings Donna (Joe) Andreano, Lisa (Guy) Childers, Larry (Amy) Myatt, aunts, one uncle, nieces, nephews and many cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as many of her friends and loved ones.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life (in true “Too Tall” fashion) when everything resumes to normalcy, and is asking for everyone to stay safe during these times of COVID-19. In lieu of flowers, if you would like to donate money towards Teri’s Celebration of Life in Utah and California, send it through Venmo to (Elijah-Smith-4) or any of her children you would like to contact. Thank you for loving our mother!!
