Suzanne Law Price

March 24, 1943 — October 20, 2022

Jay Basil Law and Loraine Baird Law welcomed their first child, Suzanne, on March 24, 1943, in Brigham City, Utah. Over the years, the family added three brothers, Craig, Kent, and Carl, and one sister, Cami, all of whom Suzanne adored. She spent many happy days with extended family growing up in Avon and Garland, Utah. Suzanne was particularly close to her maternal grandmother, Lola Jeppson Baird, and practiced her well-known cooking skills in Willard under Grandma Baird’s tutelage.

Born into a rich musical heritage, she displayed a remarkable gift at the piano from a young age. She went on to play as a soloist and with numerous ensembles, choirs, orchestras, and her personal favorite, jazz bands. She was crowned Garland’s “Wheat and Beet Days” Queen after attending Bear River High School, and later competed in the Miss Utah 1962 pageant, winning the talent competition and a generous scholarship with her piano skills. She used this talent throughout her life teaching much-loved piano students.

Suzanne attended Utah State University in Logan, where she met and married her sweetheart, Duane R. Price. Soon their first daughter, Julie (spouse Brad Andersen), joined them. During these early years they began many traditions that continued for decades, among them making and sharing Halloween donuts. In their first home in Salt Lake, Lori and Robert (Eva) were added to their family. Their youngest, David (Melanie), was born in Concord, California.

In Fair Oaks, California, Suzanne was involved with Relief Society, Girls Camp, Roadshows, and numerous other roles in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She supported Duane while he served as Bishop of the Fair Oaks IV ward and referred to these happy years as the “Camelot” years. Her children were taught respect, hard work, love of others, and how to have fun.

After returning to Utah in 1987, Suzanne enjoyed serving with Duane in the Mount Timpanogos Temple and in the Provo Missionary Training Center. She taught in Young Women’s and in Primary, thoughtful and caring to the individuals that she so loved in all of these roles. She imparted her love language of cooking delicious meals and treats with all she met, sharing recipes and laughter with the community through several years at Macey’s Little Theatre in Pleasant Grove.

Although she faced personal difficulties and trials in her life, Suzanne’s indomitable spirit could not be defeated. She drew strength from many valued life-long friends and supportive family members. She overcame through her commitment to fully living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Suzanne emulated a deep love for the Savior and was an example of the rewarding joy of serving selflessly within and outside of her family.

Suzanne successfully “graduated” from this life on October 20, 2022. She is survived by her treasured family, including many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a large extended family that she held dear. We are certain that she now delights in her reunion with Duane, Julie, and many loved ones that preceded her in passing. She would remind all of us to “Sparkle!”
