Susan Delia Wheeler Shawgo, born March 7, 1944, in Tacoma, Washington to Henry Vernon Wheeler Jr. and Dorothy Mae Mitchell Wheeler, passed away on May 9, 2024, in Provo, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents and survived by her siblings, Henry V. Wheeler III, Kathleen M. Shardy (Frank), and T. Mitch Wheeler (Donna); her children, Kristen D. Hughes (Tom) and Robert Shawgo Jr.; her twelve grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
As a mother and a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she created a legacy of love, faith, generosity, and play in her home. Though she worked as a legal secretary, small business owner, and medical transcriptionist, she loved painting, quilting, and planting flowers – simple ways of adding beauty to the world. While caring for her widowed mother, she fulfilled a life-long dream to visit Europe as the two of them went on a river cruise through Holland and Germany. In her retirement, she traveled the United States from coast to coast in a motorhome, and also served a full-time church welfare services mission in Seattle, Washington before settling down in Heber and then Midway, Utah.
Her family and friends will celebrate her life at a funeral service on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel at 1661 East 980 South, Heber City, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:00 am – 10:30 AM. Interment will be at the Midway City Cemetery.
