Steven Dale Norton

April 21, 1956 — September 16, 2014

Steven Dale Norton was born in Park City, Utah, on April 21, 1956. He passed away on September 16, 2014 in Midway, Utah. Steve fought a courageous battle against esophageal cancer for nearly two years. Although we will miss him and hold him in our hearts forever, we are thankful that he has left his worldly body and all suffering behind.

Steve spent his childhood years in his beloved Park City, Utah. His family then moved to Riverton, Utah, where he spent his teen years. As a young man he served in the US Army. Most of his working years were spent as a welder with the Boilermakers and Ironship Builders Union in and around Utah. He also worked several years in the shipyards of Seattle, Washington.

Steve married Diane Vincent in 1980 and they had three children together; daughter Robyn Norton, and sons Curtis Norton and Dallin Norton. Diane and Steve later divorced, but remained caring friends until the very end. Steve loved the outdoors, and was a great fan of fishing and hunting. He spent many happy hours on horseback, riding through the mountains with a pack of faithful dogs following behind. He was an animal lover, and leaves many cats, dogs, and horses who have lost a good friend. Steve also loved all things motorcycle, especially the freedom he felt when riding. Above all else, Steve was a free spirit who was never willing or able to be completely tied down.

Steve leaves behind sons Curtis and Dallin, daughter Robyn (Scott Rawlings), life-long friend Diane, sister Joyce (Frank) Vincent, brother Dean (Marilyn) Norton, and brother Ron (Shannon) Stindt. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends who were dear to him. Steve is preceded in death by his mother Joy May Stindt, step-father Frank Stindt, brother Dan Norton, and brother Donald Stindt.

Per Steve’s wishes, he will be cremated and his ashes scattered over his best loved places. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to Paws for Life Animal Rescue in Steve’s honor, an organization very dear to his heart. There will be a jar at his memorial for anyone who wants to donate there. We are having a memorial get-together for Steve on Thursday, September 25th, 2:00 pm, at the Chalet in Midway. There will be music, food, and memories. We invite all friends and family to please join us. Condolences may be shared online at www.probstfamilyfunerals.com
