Midway has lost a very special, talented and loving Child of God. Steve Budd went to rest in the
Lord on April 2, 2019 after courageously battling an aggressive type of bone cancer. Steve went
to rest with the great peace and promise of the second coming of Jesus Christ with his loving
wife by his side.
Steve was born on March 23, 1968 in Kansas City, Missouri to Berry James Budd and Shirley
Angela Abbott. As a child, Steve loved riding his bike with his buddy Scott. Scott was his dear
friend of 40 years whom Steve considered a brother. Along with riding bikes, Steve developed a
love for fishing as he fished in a pond near his neighborhood. As a child, Steve and his family
used to spend the summers visiting his grandparents in England. Right after he graduated from
high school, he joined the Navy. He served in the Navy for six years from 1986 to 1993. During
his active duty service, he was deployed to Port Hueneme in California, overseas to Guam, and
to Spain. He was also deployed to the Dessert Storm War but never went, because it ended
before his deployment.
Steve loved nature. When he had the opportunity to be outdoors, he took every chance to praise
God for His creation. Steve’s love for Jesus made him not only admire His wonderful creation
but also motivated Steve to praise Him with his musical talents. God gifted Steve with a
beautiful voice and the inspiration to compose inspiring, praise songs. Steve always gave the
Holy Spirit the credit for his gifts. Steve’s ultimate desire was for his music to be an instrument
in
helping many people know the love of God and His wonderful promises of mercy, salvation and
eternal life.
Steve truly enjoyed his love of fishing in the Provo River. Before his health deteriorated, he
loved skiing and going for walks by the shores of the Deer Creek River while holding hands with
his beloved wife. He also had a blast playing guitar and singing with his wife’s first grade class
at Old Mill Elementary.
Steve was a dedicated employee. His job, by trade, was welding. He did this for more than
twenty years. One of his favorite jobs was welding ozone machines for Pacific Ozone
Corporation in California. Lately, he worked as a maintenance engineer at Washington School
House Hotel in Park City. His favorite part of this job was interacting with the clients and
transporting them to different skiing resorts. However, Steve’s favorite, life-long job was
working for God as a Christian singer. He was always ready to sing praise music in different
churches and always willing to share his talents whenever the opportunity arose. In addition, he
wrote and recorded 10 praise songs. Steve was in the process of completing the production of his
first album. Unfortunately, he was not able to see the final product. He requested his wife to
accomplish this project after his passing. Therefore, his album will be finished very soon and
will be made available to the public so his gifts can still be shared.
Steve was a loving man that cared very much about his family and friends. He was a people
person. He never wasted an opportunity to be kind and considerate of others. He was definitely a
delightful talker. He would never hesitate to start a conversation with others that came his way
either in English or Spanish. Steve is loved by many people who will always remember his sweet
soul.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Ofelia Budd, mother Shirley Angela Budd, his sister
Elizabeth Abott, nephew Joshua, niece Kelsey and her husband and son, and also many
sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephew’s in-law. Steve was preceded in death by his father Berry
James Budd and loving Kathlin. Friends and family may visit the online guestbook and share a memory Steve at
