Shirley Owens

Shirley Owens passed away Feb. 3, 2019 in Midway, Utah. She was born May 9, 1924 in Springville, Utah to Robert William and Edith Childs Rothwell. She was the youngest child of 8 children. She married Eugene H Owens on November 2, 1946 in Arco, Butte, Idaho, and later solemnized in the Manti Temple.

Shirley’s favorite past time was her family. She loved spending time with family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved the Lord and served faithfully in various Church assignments and especially loved working with the Young Women. She and Eugene raised their family in Delta, Utah where she continued to work at First Security Bank. She and Eugene moved to Midway, Utah in December of 1975, where she continued to work at First Security Bank in Provo and later First Security Bank in Heber City, later Wells Fargo where she retired.

Shirley had a great love for Family History and genealogy and served for many years at the Family History Center in Midway. She also served for several years with the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Shirley will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and infectious laugh.

She is survived by her children: Judy Kaye (Arthur) Smith of Wellsville, UT; Robert Eugene (Sharon) Owens of Grantsville, UT; Gary Ray (Kathlene) Owens of West Valley, UT; and Allan John (Jeanie) Owens of Mesa, AZ 25 grandchildren; 87 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 sisters, 5 brothers and 2 grandchildren.

Burial will be in the Midway City Cemetery under the direction of Probst Family Funeral Home in Midway. Friends and family may visit the online guestbook and share a memory of Shirley at www.probstfamilyfunerals.com
