Shirley Joan Muir, 87, passed away at the home of her daughter Vickie after lingering illness, surrounded by family.
Shirley was born Feb, 19, 1934, at the family home in Tabiona, Utah to Lamar and Izelma Lazenby.
Shirley and Jack raised 8 children together on their farm in Fruitland, Utah. Shirley was raised on a farm and learned all the skills of an excellent homemaker and was her happiest preparing meals and caring for large groups of family and friends. Her door was always open and she could make meals fit for a king out of whatever she had to work with. No one could prepare wild game to equal Shirley, and they consumed a great deal of it keeping 8 hungry kids full and happy. Shirley loved flowers and gardening, and she spent countless hours seeing that her yard was the envy of all (which is no easy task while dealing with the harsh unpredictable wind and weather of Fruitland, Utah). Shirley and Jack were the perfect example of provident living to a very large family and her example will be remembered and missed greatly.
Shirley is survived by her brother and his wife, Dennis and Carol Lazenby, Jack and Patti Muir, Terry and Carlene Muir, Bill and Alisa Muir, Larry and Kathy Muir, Vickie and Bob Taylor, Verna and Joe (deceased) Searle, Gary (deceased) and Lynn (deceased) Hackford, and Leora and Frank (deceased) Wilkinson.
Shirley and Jack have 25 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Jack Muir, her parents, Lamar and Izelma Lazenby, and siblings, Ray, Jay and Jackie Lazenby.
