Shirley Rose Haycock
December 16, 1923- May 3, 2017
Shirley passed away peacefully at home at the age of 93. She was the second child of six children born to Charles Allen & Eleanor Rose Martin.
Shirley married Clifford S. Haycock whom she met at West High School. Together, they had 4 children. She dedicated most of her early married years to raising her family and welcomed her younger sister Gayle into her home to live at age 7. Shirley & Gayle remained best friends all their lives. Shirley worked 28 years for General Electric as a master coil winder for large and small motors. She kept an immaculate house, a beautiful yard, and fed friends and family delicious meals. She loved to dance, play cards, go to parties, dress in pretty clothes and jewelry. She also loved to play bingo and the horse races at the South Town Ranch with her darling friends and recruited them to watch and cheer on the Utah Jazz. Two years after her divorce from Cliff she met Marvin Fugle with whom she enjoyed many wonderful years until his passing in 2007.
Shirley is preceded in death by son, Clifford S. Haycock Jr, Julie Fronk (granddaughter), Dylan Cutler (great great grandson), 3 brothers and her parents. She is survived by her children Vickie Colvin (Thayne), Steve Haycock (Paula), Kelly Haycock (Suzanne), brother Ronald Martin (Gean), sister Gayle Defa (Dick), sister Shauna Martin, 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at the Brighton Point LDS Ward Chapel (7800 S. 3480 E., Salt Lake City) on Monday, May 8, 2017 from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the same location on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 11 AM. A viewing will precede the service from 10 to 10:45 AM. Interment will follow in the Mountain Memorial Estates Cemetery. Care under the direction of Probst Family Funeral Home, Midway, Utah.
