Family is Family. Whether it’s one you start out with, the one you end up with, or the family you gain along the way. Blood makes you related; love makes you family.

Shellye is the loving daughter of George “Skeeter” Dewey Hetzel Jr. (Betty) and JoAnn “Basey” Schaeffer (Allen). Shellye is survived by her twin sister- Kellye Newton (Ed), brother- Steve Hetzel (Mary Ann) and sister- Georgia Flarsheim (Bill); Half-Siblings: Patrick Schaeffer (Helen) and Mary Garcia (Thomas); Step-Siblings: Wade (Sue), Jim (Dana), and Mike (deAnn).

She was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She went on to serve a mission in the Ohio Cleveland Mission (1987-89).

Those who knew Shellye knew her passion and love for anything “Disneyland” and “Harry Potter”. Her fondest memories were when she was spending time with loved ones at Disneyland. Shellye was incredibly independent. Anyone who knew her well, understood that she did things her way. She had a big heart and brought a smile to all those around her. She had a sense of humor and an infectious laugh. She brought joy to many people. Shellye loved her work family at Walmart in Heber.

She was an amazing Aunt to Brett Bird (Zach), Mike Bird (Kim), Justin Bird (Chelsie), Michael Newton, Grant Newton, OP (Amanda), Sarah (Dylan), George, Sean, Alyson (Saul), Erica (Jeff), Elliott, Virginia (Nathan), Travis, Randy, Jessica (Jason), and Rebecca (Nick).
