Shauna Lee Haslam Hoffmann, age 79, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2026, in Tabiona, Utah.
Shauna was born on July 16, 1947, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Reed Smoot Haslam and Florence Ridd Haslam. She graduated from West High School, Class of ‘65 and worked as a legal secretary for many years.
Shauna was a woman of strong will, fierce independence, and a spirit all her own. She knew what she wanted, wasn’t afraid to speak her mind, and had a way of doing things on her own terms. Those who knew her best understood that beneath that determined exterior was a heart filled with love for the people, animals, and traditions she held dear.
In her younger years, Shauna and her husband shared a passion for restoring antique cars, proudly earning numerous awards for their beautiful work. She also had an extraordinary love for animals, especially horses, cats, and dogs, which brought her companionship and happiness throughout her life.
One of Shauna’s greatest joys was the arrival of October and the annual deer hunting season. It was her favorite time of year, filled with friendship, laughter, and cherished traditions. Over the years, she welcomed countless friends to her property in Tabiona, hosting deer hunting gatherings that became a treasured part of her life. For Shauna, the hunt was about much more than hunting. It was about the people, the stories, the camaraderie, and the memories made year after year.
It seems especially fitting that Shauna’s earthly journey came to an end in October, during the very season she loved most, surrounded by the familiar beauty of the place she called home.
Shauna is survived by her loving sister, Patricia Toone (Gerald) of Salt Lake City, and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents; her three brothers, Scott Haslam (Muriel), Clyde Haslam (Beth), and Douglas Haslam (Jeanene); and her sister, LaRue Sessions (Bob).
Shauna will be remembered for her independent spirit, her love of animals, her treasured friendships, and the traditions that made her life uniquely her own. Though she will be deeply missed, the stories and memories she leaves behind will continue to bring smiles to those who knew and loved her.
A celebration of Shauna’s life will be announced at a later date.
