Our little triceratops said an “Irish” goodbye on January 25, 2021 after bravely fighting brain cancer. Sarah never was one to stick around long. Even at family gatherings barbecues and other events she would just gather herself and slip out the back.
Sarah is the youngest daughter of Bruce McNeill and Sharon McNeill, the wife of Riley Michael Winterton and the mother of Korbin Michael and Kai Winterton.
Sarah and Riley met and started dating in the kindergarten and we’re married in the third grade. I jest! Riley says “ I’ve loved her for 27 years, she is mine.” (They were 13 years old)
Sarah received most of her education in the Wasatch County school District but graduated from Weber Basin with her high school diploma and a trade in carpentry in 1997. Sarah went on to work as a youth counselor and mentor to at risk youth at Cross Creek in southern Utah where the entire staff and student body loved and respected her. The altruism and kindness in her was unmatched by anyone. Most recently Sarah was employed by the Wasatch County school District as a school bus driver and school lunch secretary, and Sarah has formed amazing friendships with her school district family. On December 12, 2012 after loving each other half of a lifetime already Sarah and Riley were married and together have three sons and their beloved chocolate lab (Sarah‘s only daughter) Banjita Maria Santiago Gonzalez Winterton. Riley, Sarah and their family made a life for themselves in their home in Center Creek where Sarah passed.
Sarah has an eclectic taste in music loves the outdoors and shows such compassion for all mankind. She cried at Sarah McLachlan commercials and for Somalian refugees.
Sarah was preceded in death by her grandma and grandpa Hamby, her father-in-law Michael L Winterton, her dear friend John Barr, And her beloved dog Banjo.
Sarah is survived by her husband Riley, her sons Korbin, Michael and Kai, and her siblings Amie (Tracy) Buehler, Amanda Bigelow, Molly (Cameron) Ford and Heber McNeill. Her parents Bruce McNeill, Sharon McNeill. Mother in Law Melanie Meadows, brothers in law Joe Winterton, Robert Watts, and Chase Watts, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends, her friends who are family!
A celebration of life will be held later this year on her birthday.
