RUTH STANLEY MCGUIRE, 90
Ruth Stanley McGuire, 90, of Daniel, Utah passed away from natural causes at 8:30 AM, Saturday, December 12, 2020 at home surrounded by family in Daniel, Utah. She was born December 26, 1929 in Heber, Utah, to George Burton Stanley and Irene Marella Murdock. She married Darwin McGuire on June 22, 1949 in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Ruth is survived by her sister Marilyn (Humphries), brother Lynn, three sons, Stanley, David & Brent, three daughters, Jeanne, Georgia & Louise (Corey), 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Darwin, parents, George B. and Marella Stanley; brothers Don, Paul, Burton and Ray; and sisters Lois (Brienholt) and Lucille (Bethers).
Ruth was born and raised in Heber Valley. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved to sing. She and Darwin formed a family quartet with two of their children and they sang at many events throughout the Valley. She also sang for several years with a women’s group known as the Wasatch Choralettes.
She was exceptionally talented – known for her creativity, she tied beautiful macramé items, knitted, painted ceramics and quilted. She was always in the service of her friends and neighbors and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life. She loved the Young Women’s program where she taught for many years.
Ruth and Darwin loved to travel and visited many states and foreign countries. Their trips were most often connected to family events; ordinances for grandchildren, joining returning children as they finished serving missions and travelling to New York to visit Broadway and support their daughter’s music program. They also loved long family road trips, seeing landmarks and camping with the family.
Due to concerns about Covid-19, funeral services will not be held. Interment will be at the Heber City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Utah Food Bank.
