Ruby Marie Sweat

Our mom, grandma, great grandma, and dear friend, Ruby Marie Clegg Sweat joined her beloved husband Delaine Sweat on the evening of Monday, May 17, 2021. She didn’t mention to her loving family this upcoming date with the love of her life; she just slipped away. She left us not in the wonderfully big and loud way she lived her life, but reverently, softly, and unexpectedly in that way she had of always having the last laugh. If you are reading this and know mom, you know what we mean!
Ruby was such a joker! Many young women remember her antics at girls camp, where she was a staple for many years. Her water fights were legendary, and included everyone who wanted to get wet…and those who didn’t. She loved a good hot dog with onions and relish, but only if prepared correctly and delivered by Phil Lyons.
Many more people called Ruby Mom, than just her children. Ruby taught at the middle school for many years, and for many years in addition at the Wasatch High Alternative School where her students loved her and kept in touch long after they’d moved on. Mom survived a bout with breast cancer, and donated many hand-made hats to the chemotherapy unit at Utah Valley Hospital. She headed up many cancer drives, and others like the March of Dimes. Mom was an AVON rep for many years, and her jewelry drawer was a big draw for her granddaughters.
Ruby is loved and will be missed by Dixie Daybell(LaVar), daughter in law, Randy (Nancy) Daybell, Marty (Cindy) Daybell, and Lela Marie Hall (Gordon). She is loved by sixteen grandchildren and thirty-seven great grandchildren.

Ruby was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Delaine Sweat, her son LaVar Daybell (Dixie), granddaughter Kelly Jo Hone, and great granddaughter Karly Hone.
We want to thank all the health care workers, CNA’s, janitors, who cared for her in her last year.
Services for Ruby will be under the direction of the Heber Third Ward, with a viewing on Thursday evening, May 20 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again at 10:00 AM at the church. Funeral services will begin at 11:00. The services are available via zoom if you wish to join us that way. (Link at bottom)
Internment will be in the Heber City Cemetery
