Royal Allen Giles passed away in his sleep just days before his 95th birthday. He was born in Heber City Utah on 7 Aug 1925 to Frederick Alva Giles and Naomi Moulton. He married his sweetheart Audrey Giles who preceded him in death. He has been looking forward to this day when he could be with her once again for many years.
He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Army in the European Theater.
In his early years, he worked in Park City in the mine. Finally, being able to leave the mine he went to work for Geneva Steel in Orem retiring from there before Geneva was shut down. He loved camping and spending anytime off that he had somewhere in the mountains. He passed his love of the outdoors and camping on to his children and grandchildren. After retirement, he and his wife spent their winters traveling in their motorhome and staying in warm climates.
Dad was known for his sense of humor and quick comebacks. He loved telling of growing up and riding his horse driving the cattle into the mountains for summer grazing. He greatly admired his grandfather Moulton and learned how to fix most anything from him. He always said that his grandfather would say “Oh Shaw, you can fix that”. He will be greatly missed by his children and grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife, parents, sisters: Blanche and Merle Giles, and brother: Carl Giles
He is survived by his children: Carolyn (Kent) Kolan, Morgan, Kenneth (Cindy), Wallsburg and Brent (Dorothy) Heber. 8 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great grandchildren. Brothers-in-law Stanley Giles (Dianne) and Jay Sulser, Sisters-in-law Chole Smith, Earlene (James) Prescott and Betty Kaye Giles.
Don’t cry for me
I’m not gone
My soul is at rest
My heart lives on
Light a candle
For me to see
And hold onto my memory
But save your tears for I’m still here
By your side
Throughout the years.
Due to COVID and the wishes of our Dad, there will be a family only viewing and graveside services held.
Thank you to Beehive Senior Care and Tender Care Hospice for your dedicated care.
