Ronald Jay Meik

February 8, 1936 — November 15, 2024

Ronald Jay Meik was born Feb 8, 1936 to Harold Armstrong and Emily Jones Meik in Salt Lake City, UT. He passed away peacefully Friday, November 15, 2024, at the age of 88, in his home in Midway with his family by his side.
Ron met the love of his life and soulmate, Delores Robinson, in the seventh grade at Monroe School and remained friends until their junior year at Cyprus High school when they started “going steady”. They got engaged their senior year and married in October shortly after graduation. As soon as he turned 18 Ron started working at Kennecott Copper Corporation while still in high school. He worked at Kennecott for 31 years retiring prior to their shutdown. Shortly after retiring he started working at Salt Lake City International Airport for another 13 years retiring for good at the the young age of 62. A hard worker and great provider for his family, he was an electrician by trade and a jack of all trades at home.
Ron will always be remembered by his loving wife of 70 years; children Steven, Dean (Jennifer) and Linda (Bob) Shober; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; with 1 great-great grandchild on the way. He will also be remembered by Sister Joann (Paul) Ren, Brothers Howard (Darlene) Meik and James Meik. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Russell Meik; daughter-in-law Sue Meik, and granddaughter Heather Shober.
Some of his most memorable times include a life spent dancing, parties, traveling, and camping with family and friends. Their home in Midway was a gathering place for friends and family. Anyone that stopped by was greeted with warmth and love.
Please join us at his service at 12:00 PM Noon, Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Probst Family Funeral, 79 East Main Street, Midway, Utah. A gathering will be held at the same location 1 hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be at Midway Cemetery followed by a celebration of life at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 165 North Center Street, Midway, Utah, where all are invited to join.
