Roger R Holden

Our beloved husband, father, mentor and friend, Roger R. Holden, 83, of Evanston, Wyoming passed away on April 1, 2025 in Heber City, Utah. He was born on December 27, 1941, in Winner, South Dakota to Thomas H. and Selma C. Holden.

Roger was a military veteran and served in the United States Army from 1964-1966, including a combat tour in Vietnam. Following his return from military service, he moved to Alaska to work in the oil fields where he met his wife, Nancy (Dee). They were married on September 28, 1970. The oil field industry took Roger and Nancy throughout the United States in the first several years of their marriage, eventually bringing them to Evanston, Wyoming in 1977. He would spend the next several years in Evanston until they moved to Australia briefly to work in oil and gas exploration. Upon his return to the United States he settled back into Evanston and spent the remainder of his working years in the oil fields of southwest Wyoming. Upon his retirement he enjoyed traveling near and far to visit friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Holden; and his mother, Selma Holden.

Roger is survived by his wife, Nancy Holden; son, Donovan Holden, his brothers, Duane and Merle Holden and his sister Donna Shippy.

A celebration of life will be held at the Evanston Roundhouse, 1500 Main St. in Evanston, Wyoming on Saturday, 31 May, from 12-2 PM. An interment service will take place on 9 June, starting at 11 AM at the Black Hills National Cemetery, 20901 Pleasant Valley Dr, Sturgis, South Dakota.
