Robert Truman Partricge

Robert Truman Partridge March 26, 1939 – January 4, 2020

Born in Montclair, New Jersey, the son of Ernest DeAlton Partridge and Nell Clark Partridge. Was a direct descendant of Edward Partridge, First Bishop of the LDS Church. Preceded in death by his parents and his two older brothers, Lyman Clark Partridge and Ernest DeAlton Partridge. Twice divorced, no children. Survived by two nieces and one nephew. Lived in Montclair, NJ; upstate New York; Memphis, TN; Poetry, TX; The Villages FL; and finally, Midway and Francis, UT.

Bobb (as he preferred to spell it) was truly a renaissance man with many many interests. As a child he spent many summers at the New Jersey State School of Conservation in Stokes Forest NJ, where his parents were the directors. He learned to cook over campfires at an early age and retained a love of cooking as a hobby throughout his life.

He was trained as a US Navy electronics technician, served as an IBM Field engineer, then started his own electronics sales rep business (RepTech) in Poetry, Texas, with Bose Corp as his major client. Later hired by Bose as national sales manager for recreational products. While at Bose he oversaw installation of high end equipment for yachts, aircraft, upscale motor homes, and NASA exhibits and installations. Received many accolades from IBM and Bose for his technical and sales work. Honored by NASA as a NASA rocket scientist.

Until his health prevented it, he travelled extensively worldwide for work as well as for pleasure. Taught technical engineering and sales classes for IBM in Japan, Venezuela, and other countries. Retired from Bose Corp due to heart problems and later received an LVAD (Left Ventricle Assist Device) which he managed admirably for many years. He proudly and delightedly referred to himself as BOBB (Battery Operated Bionic Bobb).

He loved classical and jazz music, and had an extensive knowledge and collection of both classical and popular music. A long time member of the American Theatre Organ Society, he owned an Allen four manual theatre organ which he loved to play, although he was entirely self-taught and could not read music. He held a ham radio operators license and participated in several radio emergency networks. He loved trains and was a certified steam locomotive engineer for the White Mountain Railroad of Lincoln, New Hampshire. He was an avid collector of trains and train memorabilia. He was also a collector and restorer of antique vehicles, including a 1957 Flexible bus, an MG-TD, a 1952 Bentley, a 1957 Thunderbird, a 1922 Model T roadster, a 1922 Model T Woody Wagon, and a DeLorean.

He loved cats, and owned several purebred Abyssinians. At the time of his passing his two beloved orange tabby cats came to live with his sister-in-law and family.
He passed away in the cardiac ICU of Intermountain Medical Center, Salt Lake City, due to complications of heart failure, kidney failure, and respiratory stress. With him at passing were several family members. He was cremated as per his wishes. A small family memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to The American Theatre Organ Society.
