Bob passed away on October 26, 2022, in Mesa, Maricopa County, Arizona at age 81. He was born April 21, 1941 in Ogden, Weber County, Utah. His parents were Barbara Avon Hassing and Clarence Davis.
Bob’s parents divorced when he was very young. The guiding influence in his life was his grandmother. She died of cancer when he was 15 years old which was devastating to him. Sometimes he lived with his mother and stepfathers, sometimes an uncle, but when he was old enough he left and moved to California.
During Jr. High School and High School, he played basketball, baseball, football and ran track. He held city and state track records in high school.
Bob attended Weber College where he met Judy and graduated from Utah State University in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation, he chose to work for IBM. He had many positions with IBM that provided opportunities for them to live in many parts of our wonderful country–Oregon, North and South Carolina, and New York.
Bob was kind and generous, fun and witty, had a great sense of humor, and made friends easily. He was adventurous and loved learning new things. During his life our family had horses and lived in the country, learned to sail on lakes, rivers, Long Island Sound, and the Atlantic Ocean. He loved fishing, golfing, and tennis but said he wasn’t good at any of them. He loved his cars, especially his Porsche. He enjoyed cooking on his Traeger grill and baking bread to share with friends and neighbors. He was very patriotic. Bob and Judy organized a Support the Troops party for several years to send boxes to our military serving in remote places. He liked working on their homes and he and Judy did much of the work when they built their home in Midway, Utah.
After retiring from IBM, he worked for a year doing Medical Informatics at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.
They moved to Midway, Utah in 1999 where they made their home for 19 years. Bob and Judy began working at Deer Valley, loved skiing and their Deer Valley friends. Bob worked in the ski shop and was a ski instructor. He especially enjoyed teaching little kids. He made friends with the parents and kids and one family encouraged him to visit them in Connecticut.
He became a realtor. One year he was given the honor of Realtor of the Year, not because he sold the most but because he was liked and voted by his fellow realtors. Every client became a good friend.
He loved to ski, but as age began taking its toll, he decided the only winter sport he was doing was shoveling snow, so in 2018 they moved to Arizona. He loved gardening and learned how and what to grow in the different places we lived. In Arizona, he planted a citrus garden of limes, lemons, and oranges.
Bob is survived by his wife, Judy Hoxer Davis, and his children, Brian (Minji), Greg (Demi), Heather (Jeff), Eric (Jennifer), Bobbi Jo, and 18 grandchildren.
Funeral will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ, 165 N Center Street, Midway, Utah, at 2:00 p.m. Burial in Midway Cemetery.
