Ricky D Lister

November 26, 1969 — July 29, 2023

On July 29, 2023, Ricky D Lister passed away very unexpectedly at the age of 53 leaving a huge hole in the hearts and souls of many.

Rick was born in Heber City, Utah to Nancy Ann Lister and Thomas Jerry Lister on November 26, 1969.

Rick enjoyed his childhood playing with neighbors and cousins gathering at the Lister home to play in the backyard, even creating a BMX racetrack. Many still have vivid memories of the shenanigans they got into. Rick also loved playing baseball and participating in scouts, achieving the merit of Eagle Scout. As Rick got older, he enjoyed cars and racing in the demolition derby with Morgan’s Auto Body. He also participated in the Western rodeo circuit where bull riding became his sport. He traveled all over to participate in rodeos and winning some in the process.

Rick married Debra Davis-Rockhill on June 1, 2004. Debbie brought two daughters into RIck’s life, along with their drill/dance team and band competitions, parades, weddings, and three precious grandsons. Rick and Debbie enjoyed camping at their property in Fruitland, riding their golf cart, delivering dutch oven dinners to friends on the mountain, and collecting rocks. They also enjoyed taking trips to Wendover and Beaver Dam, AZ where he quickly made friends and became a part of the community through his contagious humor and love for others.

Rick was a hard worker and a good teacher to anyone who wanted to learn. He started mowing lawns at the age of ten years old and hasn’t stopped working since. Rick has worked doing framing and carpentry, construction excavation and pipework, rock and concrete crusher operation, heavy equipment operation, and superintendent of concrete/asphalt recycling. In all these jobs he looked after and cared for those he worked with, always keeping an extra pair of boots, a hoodie, gloves, or snack in his truck in case someone forgot something. Rick’s latest job has been the biggest, positive, life-changing experience. He loved working for Eco-Pan in Pleasant Grove, Utah and loved the people he worked with. He deeply appreciated their respect and the acknowledgement for his hard work.

Survived by his wife, Debbie, his parents Nancy Lister and Jerry Lister, in-laws Murray and Terry Rothenberger, stepdaughters- Rashelle (Jeff) Sargent and Ashlee (Kyle) Witt, grandsons- Haikyn Giles, Jackson Crandall, and Kash Witt, two very special nieces that he helped raise- Brandi (Josh Elkins) Mair and Megan (Josh Clift) Mair, sister Kim (Justin) Jepperson, brother Mark (Kiz) Lister, sister-in-law Dana (Dave Greatwood) Shaw, many special aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and numerous close friends, and neighbors.

Rick was preceded in death by his sister Jeannie Mair, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the Heber Valley Hospital ER staff, Life Flight Helicopter crew, and the LDS Hospital ICU staff for their hard work and loving care. Also, Jarad Skaley and Jodi Flickinger for their help and support during this difficult time taking care of our household and family.
