Randy was born on July 15, 1967, to Henry Albert Verwer and Viola Kay Jones. As their first child, he quickly proved to be an amazing big brother, someone his siblings could always look up to. He spent his childhood at his father’s side, discovering the joy of being outdoors, but he also carried a deep and tender love for his mother, whose warmth and influence stayed with him throughout his life. He was also lovingly raised by his step-mother, Kathy, with whom he shared a close and cherished bond.

Whether he was fishing, hunting, riding dirt bikes, or learning the art of training horses, Randy felt most at home under open skies. Some of his sweetest memories were simply spending time with his brothers and sisters, exploring, laughing, and growing up together.

Randy graduated from Payson High School in the summer of 1985, and not long after, he received one of the greatest blessings of his life—he became a father. He passed down the same love of the outdoors that his own father had shared with him. His children’s fondest memories almost always include being out fishing, hunting, riding dirt bikes, or watching him try his hand at being a “horse whisperer,” which often turned into a wild-west rodeo show they would never forget.

Randy had four children—Justin, Aly, Jessica, and Trevor. He loved and cherished his children dearly- who gave him one of his greatest joys in life, his grandchildren.

He worked the pipe plant for Geneva Steel Mill for 12 years. Additionally, he rode bulls for 10 years, retiring in May of 1999. He owned his own finish carpentry business, winning a best of state award. He truly enjoyed working with his hands and creating beautiful woodwork.

Randy met the love of his life, Rachel, and the two were married on December 30, 2010. They cherished their time together, most often outdoors, and loved traveling to visit family in Arizona. Rachel was truly the love of Randy’s life, and his four children want her to know how much they adore her and how grateful they are for the joy, companionship, and care she brought to their dad.

Randy was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic renal cell carcinoma, a battle he faced courageously for many years. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of November 18, 2025. Though this day marks a profound loss for his family, it also marks the day Randy was finally free from pain—able to walk, run, and embrace all that heaven has waiting for him. His family finds comfort in knowing he was reunited with his best friend, his father “Gramps,” in what they are certain was a beautiful and long-awaited reunion.

Randy is survived by his wife, Rachel; his brothers Craig (Tina), Keven (Kori), Brian (Trish), Rick (Shawna.) His sisters Christina (Ken), Angie (Greg), Amanda, Michelle (Bruce), Natalie (John) and his Mother Viola and Step Mother Kathy. He is also survived by his children; Justin (Heather), Aly (Kamas), Jessica (Sydney), Trevor (Shaelynn); and his grandchildren Taitlyn, Kade, Bentlee, Teagun, Deklin, Monroe, Isla, Rowynn, Paisley, Rylee, and Huntlee. He is preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Randy lived a life filled with love, laughter, service, family, and the wide-open outdoors he treasured. A friend and mentor to everyone he met, no one was a stranger to him for long. His presence will be missed deeply, but his spirit will be carried forward—in the stories shared, in the memories cherished, and in the beautiful family he leaves behind.
