Peter Witkamp, 78, passed away on August 19, 2025, in Heber City, Utah, due to complications from a pedestrian accident.
Born on February 27, 1947, in the Netherlands to Johan and Johanna Witkamp, Peter built a life full of love, laughter, and meaningful connections.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Gail Kimball Witkamp, and their six children: Matthew (Karla), Michael (McKinzie), Marie, Mark, Marci (Matt), and Mitch (Yumi). Siblings: Nicolas, Stephania, Al, and Johnny. He was also a proud grandfather to 18 wonderful grandchildren, who brought him endless joy.
Peter was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a young man, he served a 2½-year mission in Netherlands, where he had the unique blessing of serving alongside his brother, Nicolas. Most recently, he served a service mission with his wife, Gail, and their daughter, Marie, at the Heber Valley Camp.
Peter dedicated the majority of his life to the automotive aftermarket industry, where he made a lasting impact through his work, his knowledge, and his generosity. Known for his warm smile, quick wit, and quirky sense of humor, Peter had a unique gift for making people laugh—or at least scratch their heads. Even in his final days, his humor remained vibrant and strong.
Those who knew Peter admired his kindness, respected his integrity, and cherished the way he made others feel seen and valued. Above all, his greatest passion was his family. His love for his wife, children, and grandchildren was fierce, unconditional, and immeasurable.
The world feels a little more empty without Peter, but his spirit, laughter, and love will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know him.
