Paul Fielding Royall, Jr. age 79 passed away on March 10, 2022, at his home in Heber City, Utah. Dad was born to Paul Fielding Royall, Sr. and Eula Lee Dean Royall on March 30, 1942. He was 20 days away from his 80th birthday.
Paul graduated from West High School and attended the University of Utah. He served a mission to the New England States from August 1961 to August 1963. Paul married his eternal sweetheart, Joyce Ann Gregory, June 4, 1964, in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity. Dad and Mom were inseparable. For nearly 58 years, they showed the meaning of true love and devotion to one another.
Paul was a jack of all trades. From a plumber to department store toy manager, selling paint and hanging drapes along side his father. He had an accomplished career in law enforcement. He moved his small family to Heber over 40 years ago to become the Chief of Police for Heber City. Once that career ended, Mom and Dad decided to stay in the small community and raise their family. That meant that he worked a variety of jobs to support his family. Paul was a salesman for Alexander/Smith Carpets and finished his working years by being the property manager for low-income housing in the Heber Valley. Dad helped so many people along the way with his variety of jobs. Paul worked in the Provo Temple for many years until his health no longer allowed him to attend. He was in involved with the scouting program, the Lions Club, and served the Wasatch County community. He gave of his time and self while serving on the Board of Adjustments and Planning Commission for over 20 years. Dad spent many years on the radio with KTMP 1340 AM. He hosted a weekly radio show that may have raised an eyebrow or two, but he made the citizens of the valley stop and think and become involved in the city they lived in. He was willing to ask the hard questions and took a lot of flack from those who may have disagreed with his views.
He loved his family dearly and had a special relationship with each one of his children and grandchildren. Dad always knew what was going on in each of their lives and was available at any time to give advice or just lend a listening ear.
Paul is survived by his eternal sweetheart, who he didn’t want to leave, Joyce. Children: Paul Royall, III (Diane), Debbie Sullivan (Patrick), Michele Kelly (Jeff), Greg Royall (Allison), 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Brothers David Royall (Shelia-deceased) and Phillip Royall (Lauri). He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Diane, and daughter-in-law, Katrina Royall.
He loved to read and study and was a scholar of the scriptures. Paul also loved music and especially loved to camp. He took mom on many adventures. We will miss his stories and his laugh, but we are blessed to have been taught and loved by him.
