Patricia Marie Leahy Duke passed away on December 8, 2021. She was born on July 11, 1931, the oldest child of Mathias Patrick Leahy and Verda Mary Wright. Pat adored her parents and felt a great sense of responsibility for her brother and sisters. As the oldest she loved them, bossed them, and cared for them, as only she could, over the years. She loved family. Pat was confident and outspoken with a “matter of fact” way of looking at life combined with a big heart. Whatever she did, she did with efficiency and great love.
Pat married Jim Duke on July 28, 1951. They were a team in every sense of the word. They complemented and supported one another in almost every way possible. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were a source of true joy and delight for her. She loved each one in the way they needed to be loved. She was so very proud of each of them.
She made friends in a minutes worth of time, loved music and family get togethers, Christmas, and her flower gardens. Pat was organized and thoughtful, with boundless energy, and a great sense of humor. She was most often the smartest person in the room, and loved to laugh. She was positive, had a happy life, and she got things done!
She is preceded in death by her parents, Matt and Verda Wright, her much loved in-laws, Guy and Gladys Duke, her sisters, Elva (Gaylen) Wright, Johnnie (Marvis) Clyde, VerDawn (Bonner) Nelson, Annette (John) Thom, and her brother Bill (Sharlene) Leahy as well as two grandchildren Leesa Woody and Shea Stone.
Pat leaves behind-Just for a minute-her true partner in life, Jim Duke and her daughters and their spouses, Peggy and Dave Stone and Deana and Fred Woody. Her grandchildren Jeremy (Bonnie) Stone, Lindsay (Gary) Bezzant, Brittany (Richard) Trimble, and Jayme Woody, and great grandchildren Scottie Stone, Kyson, Maleea, Jaylee Trimble, Ava, Lila, Maia, and Matthias Stone, Weston, Isaac, Andrea, Miles, Kate and Asher Bezzant, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She will be missed.
