Oren Street Durtschi

Oren Street Durtschi died on June 17, 2025, in Provo Utah. He was born on May 5, 1941, in Stringtown, Midway, Utah to Ernest Walter and Lila Melvina Street Durtschi.

Oren Attended elementary school in the Pot Rock Schoolhouse on the Midway Town Square. He graduated from Wasatch High School and Wasatch Stake Seminary. He then attended Utah Valley University (Central Utah Vocational School), graduating in business. Brigham Young University was the next step where Oren graduated with a degree in education.

With that degree Oren taught elementary school in the Wasatch County School District grades one through six. In 1991 he received an award from the Utah State legislature for his contribution to education.

With the help of BYU print service Oren published 9 family history books. He enjoyed hiking to the top of Mount Timpanogos with friends and family. He reached the summit 19 times and tried to sleep in the house on top once. Oren enjoyed traveling. With BYU travel study programs he travelled to 64 countries and to all 7 continents including Antarctica.

A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Oren served as a primary teacher and MIA secretary in the Midway Second Ward. In the Midway Third Ward, he served as Sunday school secretary, executive secretary, and preparer of the ward bulletin. In the Deer Creek Ward he served as a young men secretary, greeter, and librarian. He also served as the Stake Young Special Interest chairman.

Surviving Oren are his brothers, Dwayne Durtschi and Norman (Bonnie) Durtschi, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, RaNae (Ken) Pentico and Ruth Ann Durtschi; brother, Marlin Keith Durtschi; and nephew, Robert Keith Durtschi.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 30, 2025, at the Charleston Ward building, 3450 South 3500 West, Charleston, Utah. A viewing will be held at the church on Sunday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM also on Monday just prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45 AM. Interment will be in the Midway Cemetery.
