Nyda June Martinez Harrison

June 3, 1938 — September 4, 2022

Our kind and compassionate companion, mother, and friend, returned to her heavenly home on September 4, 2022. Born June 3, 1938 to Tony Martinez and Bertha McMillan in Park City, Utah. When Nyda was a young child, her father died from injuries sustained in a mining accident. Her mother then married Bard Sulser and the family moved to Midway where she was raised.

Mom had fond memories of her childhood in Midway. She frequently mentioned picking up pine cones with Lethe Tatge, running to Coleman’s store for penny candy, and helping her younger brother to the outhouse at night.

During her later high school years, Mom dated her sweetheart, Francis Harrison to whom she was engaged on Valentine’s Day 1956. They were married July 14th of that year which was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

Mom loved her husband and children and enjoyed spending time with them. She enjoyed many things including traveling (especially cruising), baking cookies, making quilts, helping and serving others. She spent many years as a custodian for the LDS Church. She was an unwavering member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held many callings with her favorite being primary teacher. She had many accomplishments including a two year service mission at the Heber Bishops Storehouse and volunteering as a pink lady at the local hospital.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, until we meet again!

She is survived by her husband Francis, children: Shelly (Allen) Luke, John (Tammy) Harrison, Francis Harrison Jr., Penny “PJ” Hair, and Sally (Greg) Martinez, 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, Sister Karin (Rex) Glazier, Brother Owen (Chris) Sulser. She is pre-deceased by her parents, son Lee Harrison, and brother Joe Martinez

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 9th at 11 am. Viewing will be held just prior to the funeral from 9 to 10:30 am. Chapel is located at 1365 E Center Street, Heber, UT.

Special thanks to IHC hospice and Heber Valley Assisted Living for their compassionate care.
