Norma Price Hansen

Norma Price Hansen 89, Friend, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, nurturer, teacher, and spiritual example passed away peacefully in her home in Heber City, Utah on Monday January 23rd 2017. All her children and some of her grandchildren and great grandchildren were at her side the evening before she passed.

She was born August 20th 1927 in Paris, Bear lake county, Idaho to Matthew Gray Price and Vinnie Hymas Price. She grew up in Paris and graduated from Fielding High School in 1945, where she was active in school government leadership, cheer leading, and band.

She left Paris to go to Utah State University (“The A.C.”) as a Photography major. It was there that she met and married Gale A. Hansen of Heber City, Utah on 21 June 1947 where he was a student majoring in Geology. He graduated in 1950 and they went to work in the mining industry which involved a lot of travel. Including Argentina, Idaho, Washington, and back to Heber to retire. Each place provided opportunities for personal & family growth and making new friends, at which Norma excelled.

She was a stalwart member of the L.D.S. Church, serving in nearly every position a woman can be asked to serve in as ward member. She had a deep and abiding love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and her family. She was the spiritual leader, teacher, and example in her family.

She adored little children, and after raising her own, worked as a teacher’s assistant in a high school class that taught high school kids how to deal with little children. After that she was in the grandmother and great grandmother business.

She was preceded in death by her Parents; husband Gale A. Hansen, Brother Jay Price, son in law Devon Rees, and great grandson Thomas David Maples.

She is survived by: her brother Rodney H. (Maurrie) Price; six children: Craig G. (Barbara) Hansen, Kristen (Kent) Bybee, Claudia Hansen Rees, Wade M. (Lorrie) Hansen, Margaret (David) Rodee, and Karen (Gary) Wilson. Thirty two grandchildren: Michael (Heather) Hansen, Megan (Tom) Maples, Benjamin (Maggie ) Hansen, Kyle Bybee, Cole (Jen) Bybee, Corbin (Michelle) Bybee, Micah (Dana) Bybee, Taylor Bybee, Tyson (Brianna)Bybee, Tyler (Angela) Rees, Jessica (Nathan) Rosvall, Sarah (Mike) Stull, Garth (Yumie) Rees, Rachel (Kenneth) Cox, Marianne Rees, Erik Rees, Kristen Rees, Kelsey (Mike) Brown, Emily Hansen, Anne Hansen, Shelly Hansen, Brittney (Josh) Leavitt, Chad (Stacy Jo) Rodee, Christian (Marci) Rodee, Scott Rodee, Cameron (Sydney) Rodee, Tanner (Amanda) Wilson, Parker (Lexie) Wilson, Brooklyn Wilson, Chandler Wilson, Tayler Wilson, and Kayden Wilson. Thirty two great grandchildren: Jacob, Lily, Leif, Luke, and Max Hansen; Emilia, Elliot, Aaron, Claire, Avery, Ryan, Luke & Jack Bybee; Adam & Kayla Rees; Aidan Rees, Daegan & Piper Rosvall; Caitlyn, Avery, and Jack Stull; Dillian, Conner, Olivia & Eliza Cox; Scarlett, Giovanna & Phoenix Leavitt; Ruby Jo Rodee; Eden, Ella, & Maya Rodee. Plus two baby boy great grandchildren on the way.

A viewing (closed casket) will be held on Friday evening January 27th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday , January 28th from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the Valley Hills 1st ward at 5th North & 550 East, Heber City, Utah. Funeral Services will be in the chapel at 11:00 am. Interment will be in the Heber City Cemetery.
