Neil Broadhead peacefully left this earth surrounded by many loving family members on January 30, 2023. Neil was born to Dean and Verda (Mair) Broadhead on January 18, 1940 in the old Heber Hospital. He came home to the family farm which was homesteaded by his Great-grandfather, Robert Broadhead in 1859. Neil lived on and worked the farm he cherished his whole life. He loved his job and had a soft spot in his heart for his baby calves. Five generations have lived on the Broadhead homestead.
Neil graduated from Wasatch High School. He enjoyed being a member of FFA and the football team. In 1957 a pretty young lady from Arkansas caught his eye and he loved her devotedly for the next 66 years. Pat and Neil were married on March 2, 1961 in the Heber 4th Ward their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.
Neil served in many stake and ward callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as President of the Heber Valley Jaycees and Utah Young Farmers. Neil was named Young Farmer of the Year and won several awards for agricultural stabilization and conservation. His love for his God, family, and community was evident in his kind thoughtful actions and willingness to help a neighbor. Neil was known for his humility and contagious smile. He was truly pure of heart before his God and like Nathanael of old, one in whom there was no guile.
Neil and his son, Troy, enjoyed fishing on Troy’s boat, buying old junker cars and fixing them up, constantly repairing farm equipment, and putting up hay. Neil never missed a dance recital, drill team performance or the chance to drive his corvette with his Dairy Princess daughters.
