Milton Young 85, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away June 8, 2024 in Heber City, Utah. He was born November 1, 1938 to John Young and Harriet Florence Olsen in Wallsburg, Utah.
When Milton was a baby he contracted pneumonia, his temperature rose too high and that is why he had some different struggles and challenges. He had a special talent for remembering birthdates. He went to grade school at Wallsburg Elementary School and he graduated from Wasatch High School.
Milton was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He attended the Wallsburg Ward until he moved to the Care Center. He appreciated the Care Center Branch members that would come weekly for services and study sessions.
Milton had several friends he would always talk about: his brother Ben Young, his nephew Glen Shepherd, Gary Young and Gene Cox. Gene was his roommate-he lived with him for over 3 years at The Lodge-Rocky Mountain Care Center. Gene passed away in April and Milton missed him.
Milton loved BYU sports. He would watch the games whenever he could and if he could not watch the games-he would listen to them on his radio. Milton also loved watching the Utah Jazz and was able to attend a game years ago.
He was a hard worker and worked on the farm for years. He loved his dogs and his cats. He also had all kinds of animals: cows, horses, sheep, pigs, and chickens. Milton hauled hay and helped his father and brothers milk cows. Together they planted and grew big gardens. He took care of the farm cutting down thistle and coca burs. Milton loved being at home on the farm in Wallsburg.
Milton was Christlike. He never spoke an unkind word about anyone. He was gentle, patient and kind. He was never in a hurry. He never devoured his meal, he savored every morsel. He took his time doing the things he wanted to do. He loved reading western books by Louis L’Amour. He also would write in his journals about what he did each day.
Milton is survived by his siblings Marie Shepherd, Walter (Gayle), Laura McAllister and Vera (James) Breeze. Multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Donald Young and Ben Young, sisters Leone Shumway and Nina Young.
Special thanks to all the staff at Rocky Mountain Care -The Lodge and hospice care Polly and Paden
