Melvin Leroy Hare passed peacefully in his sleep on March 25, 2023 at his home in Heber City, Utah at the age of 80. He was born to Opal Easter (Chambers) and Harvey Hare on August 7, 1942 in Beaumont, Texas. He was one of eight children.
Mel enlisted in the Navy at 17 and proudly served his country as an airman aboard the USS Lexington CVA-16. After his four years of service, he began a successful career in digital document and information technology with Xerox Corporation where he stayed for more than three decades until his retirement. During his lifetime, Mel enjoyed gardening, camping, competitive western dancing, and spending time with friends, family, and his beloved pets. He was also an incredible chef and baker, and quite possibly made the best cherry cheesecake west of the Mississippi.
He is survived by his daughters Melanie Seus (Jed) of Utah, Heather Tesdahl (Greg) of California, along with his grandchildren Sterling, Tristan, and Kellin. He also leaves behind his sister Johnnie Gail Anderson and his brother Don Hare (both of Mississippi).
Mel will be honored in a private family memorial in Dana Point, California where he enjoyed many beautiful days with loved ones.
