Our loving Father returned home to his eternal wife, on July 16, 2017 after fighting a valiant battle with diabetes.
Vern was born on 6/24/1944 to Ronald Franklin Fillmore and Neva May Wall, in his Grandmother's home in Midway, UT. He Graduated from Wasatch High in 1962. Vern was an avid athlete playing in football, baseball and basketball. He earned many all-star positions and in his senior year of School, he was recognized for all state player in both the Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret News in football. He went on to serve an LDS Mission to the North Scottish Mission in the United Kingdom. He found a great love for the Scottish people. On 7/26/1968, he married his sweetheart Helen Jane Beckendorf in the Salt Lake
Temple. Vern and Helen were blessed with 4 Daughters, 11- Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren. Vern was exceptional at fly tying and tied many flies for the community. Vern was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings throughout his life. He lived his life loving all humankind, along with our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ronald and Neva Fillmore, wife Helen Fillmore, daughter Cindy Ann Fillmore, best friend/brother David Max Fillmore, 2 Grandsons and many other family members. Vern is survived by his 4 Sisters, Betty (Ken) Durrant of Sandy, Utah, Barbra (Roy) Ritchie of Heber, Utah, Dot (Jim) Zetko of Heber, Utah and Phyllis (Glen) Gray of Lehi, Utah; 3 daughters, Valerie (Earl) Huggard, Michelle (Robert) Devins and Tammy (Bodey) Mair, along with many Grandchildren, whom he loved with all his heart. We would like to express our sincere gratitude and love to all who had a hand in the care of our sweet father.
There will be a funeral service on Thursday, July 20th at 1:00pm in the Heber 8th Ward, 1205 W. 650 S., Heber. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6pm-8pm and 11:30-12:30pm on Thursday prior to the services both at the LDS Church. Interment will be in the Heber City Cemetery.
