Melba Colleen Moody Barney Muir, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend returned to the arms of her Savior and many anxiously awaiting family members on August 1, 2018. Colleen was born on January 9, 1930 in Deseret, Utah to Leigh Richmond Moody and Zella Amelia Cahoon. She was the youngest of five with 2 brothers and 2 sisters. She married Darwon Barney in October 18, 1947. He passed away April 17, 1964. She married Clyde Holmes Muir on June 23, 1967. And they lovingly raised their “yours, mine and ours” family together. Clyde and Colleen enjoyed serving a mission together at the Family History Center/Vault in Salt Lake City. Clyde passed away on February 27, 2011.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many callings including Primary President, Stake and Ward Relief Society President, and so many more. Colleen loved her Savior, Jesus Christ very much and knew he was always there when she needed him. She loved to serve others taking her love, prayers and food to neighbors in need. She was an excellent homemaker – known for her delicious homemade bread and pies. As a member of the Choralettes and Happy Homemakers club, she made many lifetime friends and loved her associations there. She enjoyed being in bowling leagues and a pistol shooting club where she won a few trophies. In later years as a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers she loved working in the museum and sharing her knowledge of her pioneer ancestry and the Heber Valley. Her home was always open to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They always felt an abundance of love and a sweet spirit there.
Colleen was welcomed to the other side of the veil by her parents, brothers and sisters, husband Darwon, husband Clyde, sons Brent Walter Muir and Ricky Lee Muir and grandchildren Jenna Colleen and Jason Gregrich. She left behind children: Claudia (Brad) LeBaron, Darleen (Jim) Kinsey, Gail (Connie) Muir, Lee (Karol) Barney, Gary (Pat) Muir, Karen (John) Cox, Diann (Lynn) Greer, Joyce (Gordy) Olsen, Annette (Don) Jones and Sharon (Shawn) Gregrich and a large posterity of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She dearly loved her family and will be watching over them from above. She leaves a beautiful legacy of selfless service to family and friends. Special thanks to the staff of the Abbington for taking care of her this last year.
