Max Kenneth Grose

June 18, 1941 — August 4, 2024

Max K. Grose was born June 18, 1941 in the Park City Hospital to Charles Kenneth Grose and Eva Lena Zenger Grose. Max was the second child. His older brother Dee L. Grose was 5 years old when Max was born. Max spent his early childhood at 848 Norfolk Ave. in Park City, Utah. When Max was 5 years old the family moved to 1003 Norfolk Ave. They stayed in the same neighborhood so the boys didn't have to make new friends.

Max spent time playing with Dale Winchester, and Kenneth Buck two of the boys living in the neighborhood. They all enjoyed playing Cowboys, and Army. The Second World War just ended in 1945 so the Army and war games with the U.S. winning all the battles was played by most of the boys.

Television had not really come to Park City so children played outside and played games and ball and had a good time roaming in the mountains. Spring always brought the threat of wood ticks, a very dreaded little bug that would imbed itself in your body and suck your blood and if infected you would get tick fever and be very sick. Every spring everyone got a tick shot to prevent tick fever.

Max attended Marsac School from Kindergarten through the 6th Grade and then he attended the Park City High School from 7th Grade through his Senior year. At the time Max was in school the population in Park City wasn't very high. They only had an elementary school and high school.

In high school Max played the mellophone in the Park City High School Band. When he was a Junior in high school, he took part in drama and had a part in the annual school play. After graduation he attended Henegar Business School in Salt Lake City and earned a degree in accounting. While attending Henegar's he and his cousin Richard Hiatt lived with Dee and Carolyn in their home on Sunnyside Ave. in Salt Lake City.

After he graduated from Henegar's he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Canadian Saskatchewan Mission. On returning home Max went to work for the Park City Mining Co. as purchasing agent. He worked there for a few years and then went to work in Salt Lake City where he met Diane Marie LaFollette.

Diane and Max were married in the Salt Lake Temple on December 27,1979. Max and Diane started their married life living in Heber City and have lived there their entire married life. During that time, they have lived in five different homes.

Max had a variety of jobs during his working career. He worked as a Purchasing Agent for the Park City Mines for several years and then went to work for Western States Energy, as a service master, a baker at Day's Market, at Mattingly's (making wheels for helicopters), and the Bakery at the Market in Park City. He retired from the Bakery in 2010 at the age of 69 years old.

Max always had a large garden and provided a great variety of vegetables for his family.
He found great satisfaction in having a big garden and giving some of the vegetables to the family and friends.

Max enjoyed hunting deer and elk from the time he was very young and still enjoyed hunting. He went hunting at the age of 76 with his son David and shot a three-point buck.

Max served in various church callings, financial clerk, nursery leader, Sunday School secretary, Sunday School President, Janitor, and building closer.

Max and Diane are the parents of five children, four boys and one girl. They taught them good work ethics, and devotion to their spouses. They taught them how to be good parents.

Their children are:
Chad Robert
Jeremy Charles
David LaFollette
Mark Kenneth
Treesa Marie
