Marva Webb Aikens

December 30, 1945 — September 5, 2019

Marva Webb Aikens, 73, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019, surrounded by her family. She died peacefully at home after battling with dementia.

Marva was born December 30, 1945 in Blackfoot, ID, and raised in Lehi, UT. She was the youngest daughter of Vern and Effie Webb. She lost her mother at the tender age of 3, and was raised by her devoted step mother, Lucile Bateman Webb. She had a wonderful childhood, doted on by her three older sisters, and by her aunt and uncle, Lexia and Vern Whipple. Marva’s father died when she was 20. She was attending BYU, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Education. After purchasing her sweet black 1968 Chevy Nova, she headed back to Blackfoot for her first teaching position. Marva often reminisced about the thrill of independence that beautiful car gave her. Life only got better when the hottie next door, David Aikens, became the love of her life. After an 18-month courtship and engagement, they were married for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on February 11, 1972. Dave’s job took them to California, where they were blessed to adopt Adam in 1975 and Jennifer in 1977. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Rupert, ID, where they spent nearly 40 years building life-long friendships and memories before moving to Midway, UT in 2015.

To know Marva was to love her. She was famous for her amazing desserts and abundant shoe collection. Everyone looked forward to seeing which style of shoes she was going to wear next. Her greatest love was being a wife and mother. She also spent years working at the DeMary Memorial Library, where she adored doing children’s story time. Marva was an avid reader; whether it was a mystery or a cookbook, she enjoyed them all. Marva’s faith and membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints were the foundation of her life. She served whole-heartedly in all the many positions to which she was called. She cherished her time working together with her sweetheart in the Boise and Twin Falls temples. The knowledge that families are forever gave her great joy.

Marva is preceded in death by her mother and father, Effie & Vern Webb, her mother Lucile Webb, infant brother Wray Webb, and brother-in-law Mike Southwick. She is survived by her husband, David Aikens, son Adam (Cindy) Aikens, and daughter Jennifer (Jason) Price; her sisters Shirley Southwick, Elaine (Don) Ash, and Janet Norton. Marva has 11 grandchildren: Hunter, Nathan, Holland, Brooklyn, London, Brandon, Jodi, Boston, Kimber, Jaymi, and Jenson, who all adore her.

A viewing will be held Tuesday, September 10, from 6PM-8PM and Wednesday, September 11, from 9:30AM-10:30AM, with the funeral service to follow at 11AM. All services will be held at the Legacy Building of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at 250 E 200 S Midway, UT.

The family wishes to express our deep gratitude for the incredible care Marva received from IHC Hospice of Heber and the staff in the Enhanced Care of Courtyard at Jamestown.
