Mark Alan Sweat

Mark Alan Sweat, age 66, died on November 1, 2021 in Kingman, Arizona. He was born on February 18, 1955 in Heber City, Utah to Boyd E Sweat and Shirley Joy Sweat. He was raised in Center Creek and then he and his second wife, Debbie Sweat, raised their family in the Wasatch Valley. They later divorced.

Mark loved the ocean and was a master scuba diver. He loved to travel and take cruises. He was always puttering, working on a project. He really enjoyed learning and practicing Spanish. He relaxed by golfing, hiking, camping, and boating, especially in Lake Powell. He was an excellent cook, he excelled at BBQ sauce, breakfast foods, and smoking ribs.

Mark worked in the concrete industry for over forty years, most of that employed at Westroc in Pleasant Grove. He ended his career as a Quality Assurance and Technical Services Manager. He was the President of the American Concrete Institute for several years.

He volunteered with the Wasatch County Search and Rescue and took great pride in it. He thoroughly enjoyed Swiss Days and volunteered for more than twenty years, including serving as Chairman. His BBQ sauce was famous and served with the pulled beef at Swiss Days. The last year of his life he spent serving others. He volunteered at Switch Point Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen in St. George weekly. He helped care for his 94-yr-old mom, remodeled family members’ homes, and looked for every opportunity to serve others.

Mark is survived by his mother, Shirley Sweat, his sons, Shad Lawton, Jamie Sweat, Jason (Hailey) Sweat, Joshua (Amber) Lawton, and his daughter, Brittany (Caleb) Osborn. His brothers, Dale (Linda), Steven, John (Barb), and his sister, Jayne (Floyd) Ries. Twelve grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his dad, Boyd Sweat, his daughter, Cassie, and his son, Mark Sweat.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 11am in Midway in the LDS chapel at 250 E 200 S. A viewing will proceed the service from 10-10:45.

Interment will be at Heber City Cemetery.
