Lynn Jeanette Allen

May 7, 1944 — September 8, 2022

Lynn Jeanette Allen passed peacefully on Thursday, September 8, 2022, surrounded by family. She was born on May 7, 1944, in Richmond, California to Warner Everett Grimes and Edna Mae Simerly. She grew up in Richmond and graduated from Richmond High School. She was the first of four children; she is survived by her brother Raymond, who resides in California and preceded in death by her brother Johnny and sister Karen.

A few years after graduating high school she met her sweetheart Dennis “Denny” Allen whom she adored until the end. The couple married on February 26, 1966, and sealed in the Oakland Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and started a family in San Jose, California. After several years, they moved to San Ramon, California and because of her love for children, Lynn started a small daycare business as well as a swim school where she got to work with hundreds of children over the years. Later, Lynn and Denny moved to Tracy, California; Tucson, Arizona; and Castle Rock, Colorado. While living in Castle Rock, they enjoyed being close to their son Jeff and his family. Also, during this time, both Lynn and Denny volunteered for a service mission with their church where they managed a food storage and cannery center in Slidell, Louisiana in the Mississippi Jackson Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Shortly after returning from their mission service, they moved to Heber, Utah where they have enjoyed living and being near their daughter Sherry and her family for the past six years. Together, Lynn and her husband have five children, eleven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren, and all have brought her the greatest joy imaginable.

Lynn faithfully served her brothers and sisters in the gospel of Jesus Christ through her church in many different capacities, such as the president of her church’s women’s organization where she loved visiting and ministering to all of her sisters. Because of her love for children, she greatly enjoyed spending time with and teaching the children in Sunday classes and having them in her home to bake cookies.

Lynn found great joy in being a mother and a wife; and to her grandchildren, she was known as Nana. She valued time with family and enjoyed planning activities that would bring the family together like boating on the lake, family reunions, and regular family home evenings with games, laughter, discussions, and a good dessert. In her younger years, she enjoyed water skiing, synchronized swimming, and bowling. In Heber, she loved being a part of the Senior Center activities and loved her friends there.

She raised her family with love and devotion and is survived by her husband Dennis and five children, Kathy, Larry, Jeffrey, Sherry, and Alesha who are blessed with her example and many precious memories.
