LouAnna Fitzgerald Anderson passed away peacefully in her home in Heber City, Utah on August 21, 2018.
LouAnna was born in Heber City on August 8, 1928 to Benjamin Athel Fitzgerald and Avis Luella Bonner. She grew up in Heber surrounded by a loving and boisterous family. The Fitzgerald family was blessed to spend summers on their ranch in Woodland and the school year in Heber.
LouAnna graduated from Wasatch High School in 1946. She has many fond memories of her days at “Dear Old Wasatch”. After graduating from WHS, LouAnna attended Utah State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce in 1950.
While attending Utah State University she met James Sterling Anderson. Sterling was a fellow student and an officer in the United States Air Force. They were married on December 27, 1952. On that day LouAnna began a great adventure of traveling and living in many places. LouAnna and Sterling’s three oldest sons were born in England. After they returned to America they had a daughter and two more sons.
LouAnna loved her family and devoted every minute of her life to Sterling and her children. As her family traveled the world their six children had many opportunities to experience new cultures, meet new people and make new friends. It was a great life!
LouAnna also enjoyed the many duties of being a Missile Commander’s wife. One of her favorite Christmas traditions was making fudge for all the airmen who were on duty in the missile silos on Christmas Eve.
After 25 years in the Air Force Sterling retired and they moved back to Heber. Mom loved being home. She was an attendance secretary at Wasatch High School and worked with the Utah Board of Realtors.
Sterling died December 27, 2011. LouAnna is survived by their six children; Scott and Shelley Anderson (Dandy, Virginia), Mark and Maureen Anderson (Bozeman, Montana), Bret Anderson (San Diego, California), Debbie and Kevin Gardiner (Heber, Utah), Dane and Jane Anderson (Lewiston, Utah) and Chris and Kristie Anderson (Laurel, Montana). She is also survived by her sister, Renee Johnson (Heber, Utah), sister-in-laws LaNae Fitzgerald and Diane (Kent) Wilson and brother-in-law, Doug (Janet) Anderson. She is missed terribly by a very sad and lonely dog, Lola.
Mom left a legacy of quiet service and love. We will miss her cheery smile, her great sense of humor, and her fun-loving nature. Most of all we will miss the daily sacrifices she made for each one of us.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to Primary Children’s Hospital, The Huntsman Cancer Institute or Saint Judes Childrens Research Hospital.
Our thanks and gratitude to all those from Encompass Home Health and Hospice who helped make Mom’s last days memorable, fun and peaceful.
Viewings will be held Sunday, August 26, 2018, from 6:00-8:00 PM and Monday, August 27, 2018 from 9:30-10:30 am prior to funeral services at 11:00 am at the Heber North Stake Center (550 East and 500 North, Heber City, Utah). Interment will be at the Heber City Cemetery.
