Lee Roy (Coach) Ritchie, passed away on July 18th, 2020 in Heber City. He was born to Paris Clyde Ritchie and Hannah Whiting Ritchie on April 5, 1936. He married Barbara Lue Fillmore on September 2, 1955 and was sealed in the Logan temple on August 4th, 1959.
Roy was an avid sportsman. He lettered in basketball and tennis at Utah State. He was a swimming instructor and coached basketball, football, tennis, wrestling and track at Dugway and South Summit High Schools. He was chairman of the Wasatch and Summit Counties on the walk-a-thon. He bowled a perfect 300 game at Holiday Lanes. He won several golf, bowling and tennis tournaments. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his brothers. He taught school at South Summit High School for 30 years and was the driver’s ed teacher as well. He also worked for the Wasatch National Forest Service for 19 years.
He loved his children and was proud of each accomplishment they did. Most of all, his wife whom he had been married to for 64 years. His 65th anniversary would have been September 2nd.
He is survived by his wife Barbara and his four children Denise, Annette, Scott and Karen. He is also survived by his brother Don (Liz) Ritchie and sister Diane (Teryl) Hunsaker. He has five grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his mother, father and brother John.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 22nd at 11:00 at the Charleston Cemetery. There will be no viewing. Due to the COVID pandemic, we ask all that are attending to please wear masks.
