Launa Carol Garrett Barney

Launa Carol Garrett Barney, age 83, died on July 22, 2024 in her home in Midway, Utah, surrounded by family. She was born on August 16, 1940 in Nephi, Utah to John Valore Garrett and Elaine Croft Garrett. She married Keith Gordon Barney in the Manti temple on June 13, 1958. They were married for 66 years and she was everything to Keith. They had seven children, Dennis, Tami, Todd, Eric, Stacy, Alaina and Anthony. She was an exceptional mother and wife. Their home was always a place that drew others as she was especially generous, loving and accepting.

She was ever patient and selfless. She was a noble, gentle soul and will be missed by many. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren above all else. Her family was her whole life and filled her with great joy. She loved quilting, gardening, reading, crocheting, and writing poetry. She was the mother of seven children, sixteen grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren. She and Keith had many joyful memories at their home in Midway and welcomed into their lives anyone who needed them, of which there were many. They regularly added to the number of people who called them Grandma and Grandpa by just loving them into their family. She was cherished by all who knew her.

Launa was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all her life. Her faith defined her and was evident in all she did. She and Keith served a full-time mission for her church in 2005 to Cherry Hill New Jersey.

She had a close and rewarding relationship with her two sisters Janice Steele and Patsy Bailey and her brother John Garrett. The sisters had weekly visits for many years which Launa looked forward to every week. They meant so much to her and were always there for her.

She is survived by her husband, Keith Barney, children, Tami Barney Fiack (Tim), Eric Barney (Brenda), Stacy Barney Turner, Alaina Barney Gull (Jamie), and Tony Barney (Annette), grandchildren, Todd Barney, Brooke Barney Nichols, Carly Barney Burket, Jason Fiack, Allison Fiack Franks, Jordon Fiack, Bodhi Barney, Kelty Barney, Brent Turner, Chase Turner, Anna Turner Ewaniuk, Lauren Gull Olsen, Noah Gull, Aaron Gull, Farrah Barney Sapp, and Corbin Barney, sister, Patsy Garrett Bailey, and brother, John V. Garrett.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John Valore Garrett and Elaine Croft Garrett, sister Janice Garrett Steele, sons, Todd Barney and Dennis Barney.

A viewing will be held Friday, July 26th from 6pm-8pm at the Heber Valley Funeral Home 288 N. Main Street, Heber, UT. Graveside service will be held Saturday, July 27th at 9am at Midway City Cemetery, 600 W. 500 S., Midway, UT. Please, No gifts or flowers.
