Larry M Stump passed away at his home in Charleston, UT on Feb. 22, 2023 at the age of 75. Born Jan. 15, 1948 to Robert and Nellie (Henry) Stump on a cold winter day in St. Mary’s PA, he rejoined them in heaven on a day much like it. Larry grew up in Johnsonburg, PA. where he attended school and graduated from Johnsonburg Area High School in 1965. He joined the Unites States Air Force and honorably served his country for 4 years including a tour in Viet Nam during the Tet Offensive. After leaving the Air Force he went to work for Nevada Power. Realizing that he didn’t want to spend the rest of his life reading meters, he made the decision to return to Pennsylvania to attend Penn State University where he earned a bachelor's degree with honors in Recreation and Park Management. After graduation he came back to the west and was hired as a State Park Ranger at Wasatch Mt. State Park where he met his very best friend, Trudy Wilson. They married on Dec. 15, 1981 in Las Vegas, NV and enjoyed 41 incredible years together, traveling and playing golf. They once played all 90 holes in Midway one beautiful summer day, starting at Wasatch Mt., then on to the Homestead, and finishing up at Soldier Hollow. Larry beat Trudy by a shot. They also took their dream trip to Scotland and played golf at St. Andrews. After retiring from Utah Parks and Recreation Larry went to work at the Homestead Golf Course cutting perfect fairways for over 20 years. He truly loved being out on the course early in the morning watching the sun come up.
He is survived by his wife Trudy, his sisters Sandy (Gary) Gerber, Ridgeway PA, Cheryl (Rudy) Kocjancic, Leeper, PA, brother in law George (Roxi) Wilson, sisters in law, Kathy (David) Allison, Keary (Reed, deceased) Stephens, Patricia (John) Ford, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he dearly loved. He is proceed in death by his parents, nephew Kasey Kocjancic, and a much beloved niece, Amy Allison.
In honor of his wishes there will be no services but the next time you are playing golf, please hit one down the fairway for him.
