Listen to Obituary

It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kim Curtis Swoboda, 69, of Bountiful, Utah, who passed away on November 20, 2025.

Born on January 14, 1956, in Van Nuys, California, Kim was the beloved husband of Susan Swoboda. Together they shared 32 years of marriage. He was the father of 3, grandfather of 7, and great-grandfather of 5.

Kim spent much of his life dedicated to his craft as a woodworker, turning simple pieces of lumber into meaningful creations. His career in woodworking reflected his skill and talents.

His family will forever remember his humor, legendary jokes at family gatherings, and never knowing what antics he may come up with. His legacy lives on through those that he loved, but also through the stories that will keep everyone laughing for years to come. He also had a love for classic country music; you could find him singing or dancing at any time.

He was preceded in death by his parents, (Father) Curtis Swoboda, and (Mother) Patty Swoboda, who are no doubt welcoming him with open arms and trying not to laugh at whatever joke he told upon his arrival.

He is survived by his wife Susan Swoboda, his children Scott Swoboda (Kristie) of Georgetown, KY, Sabrina Blackwell (Tommy) of New Washington, IN, and Sullivan Swoboda (Nathalie) of Heber City, Utah; grandchildren Krystal McKinney (Eddie), Andrea Goedeker (Kylie), CJ Swoboda (Anna), Austin Swoboda, Grace Tucker (Ezekiel), Amanda Helton (Kevin), and Ellie Blackwell; and 5 great-grandchildren, along with his sister Cindy Cooper (Jerry) nephew Andy Oyler (Nina), and nieces Amy Mers (David) and Kelly Mackett (Jay) and 9 great nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

To respect Kim’s wish there will not be a service. The family will be holding a private celebration of life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local hospice, or honor him by telling a good joke and laughing a little louder than usual, or simply reach out and share a memory with his family.
