Kendall Francis Cowley passed away on September 5th, 2020 in Heber City, Utah. He was born in Venice, Sevier, Utah on July 7th, 1929, son of Francis Charles and Eliza Venola Ohlwiler Cowley. Most of his elementary and secondary education took place in Heber City. After completing one year at BYU, Kendall and his sister Helen, left for missions at the same time. Kendall served in Belgium and France.
Following his mission Kendall was drafted into the US Army. While serving in the military, he married Elaine Hertell from Heber City. In 1954, while they were stationed in Germany, their son Karl was born. Upon Kendall‘s service discharge, they settled in Heber City. Ultimately, Elaine and Kendall were divorced. Shortly thereafter, in 1958, their son died of acute leukemia.
Kendall received his advanced schooling from BYU. He taught English at Granger High School in Salt Lake City. After teaching he was employed by the forest service and 0SHA. He then returned to Heber City to care for his mother. He was employed by the Wasatch County School District as a custodian at both the North and Central schools. He was an avid reader and a devoted fan of BYU sports.
Kendall was preceded in death by his son Karl, his parents Francis and Venola, his sister Helen Williams (Richard), and his brother John (Wilma Dixon). He is survived by his sister Ruth Annette Montgomery (Melvin).
A family graveside service will be held Saturday, September 12th, 10:00 am at Heber City Cemetery.
