Karlyn Mair

June 15, 1940 — July 31, 2021

On July 31, 2021, Karlyn Crook Mair was able to return to her Heavenly Father after battling Alzhiemers.

She was born June 15, 1940 in Heber City, Utah to Harvey and Beth Crook. After she graduated from Wasatch High School she married LeRoy Mair on September 18th, 1958, in the Salt Lake Temple. She was always very happy and loving to those around her. “Karlyn Darlin” is what Spring Garden’s staff called her, and honestly, nothing seems more fitting. Another dear friend said of Karlyn, “she has a tender heart, and the tears come easy. Her own problems come second to others' needs.” This was the legacy of Karlyn, especially the easy tears shared by many family members. We feel and love deeply as she did. Karlyn was a beautiful example of kindness and compassion in all her roles as a daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma. To know her was to love her and feel welcomed by her. She always kept a smile on her face and a happy heart even through her battle with Alzheimer's. She served all of her various church callings with a willing heart and uplifted many with her service. She worked for the Wasatch School District for many years where the kids adored her! She even had her own clothing store, Mode O’ Day, which she took great pride in. She would take any opportunity to support her kids. A lot of her time spent was cheering her kids on from the stands as they competed in a variety of different sports. Her love for sports didn’t only extend to what her kids competed in. She loved cheering on any Wasatch, BYU, Utah, Utah State, or Jazz game while surrounded by her family. Karyln loved gardening and flowers. All of her grandkids love to help grandma pull weeds and pluck raspberries. She loved music, camping, and going on cruises with her love, LeRoy. She cherished her grandkids and great grandkids, even when she started to forget their names. Her memory may have suffered, but her spirit never did.

The family would like to take the opportunity to thank the nurses, CNA’s, hospice workers, and all Spring Gardens staff for the great care they gave our “Karlyn Darlin’.” She lived a beautiful life of service to her family, and we are glad she could reunite with her beloved, LeRoy.

She is survived by her four children Diane (Steve) Young, Steven (Laura) Mair, Wayne (Kim) Mair, and Julie (Steven) Park. Also by her siblings Jean (Larry) Morris, Barbara (Biff) Gwilliam, Ralph (Diane) Crook, Dave (Vickie) Crook, and Brian (Jeri) Crook. Karlyn has 13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband LeRoy Mair and parents Harvey and Beth Crook.
