Karen Luke Emerson

December 17, 1952 — May 5, 2022

On May 5, 2022, our sweet wife, mother, and grandma, Karen Luke Emerson, made her way back to her heaven home. She fought a long valiant fight with aphasia. Though her body and mind were frail and tired, her spirit was full.

Karen was born on December 17, 1952 in Heber City, Utah to Burnell Luke and Nola Smith Luke. She grew up in Daniel, Utah where she was blessed to live by her Grandma and Grandpa Smith, as well as many other aunts, uncles, and cousins. If you asked her, she would say she had the greatest childhood.

Karen graduated Wasatch High School in 1971. She played the clarinet in the marching band and always talked about how much fun she had. Her friends from both childhood and adulthood all claim she was the kindest person they knew. She always had a smile on her face. She never talked badly about other people. From her perspective, she never met a stranger. Karen was a friend to all.

In 1975, our “Lady Luck” met the love of her life, her “Warlock”, Maurice Emerson, on the CB radio. They were married on December 5, 1975 in Karen’s parents’ home. They sealed their marriage for eternity in the Salt Lake Temple in June of 1987. Together, they welcomed four children into their family. Karen was an exceptional mother. She was beautiful, kind, talented, and tough all at the same time. She put her heart and soul into loving her family.

Karen was always up for an adventure or two. Whether that was camping, taking a drive to see the fall leaves, playing games with her family, or throwing a family BBQ. If you decided to be brave enough to take her to a scary movie, you were bound to end up with popcorn and soda all over you. She was never one to pass up a chance to see a good parade or rodeo. She was an extraordinary florist. Most days, you would find her in her own gardens or at Lee’s in the floral department. She loved how flowers could bring joy and peace to others.

Karen’s greatest gift was her discipleship. Many friends and family came to know God better because of her and her love. Her family will miss her big presence in their lives but will rejoice knowing she is pain-free and at peace.

Karen would want her husband to know how much she loved him. If Karen had any last words, it would be, “I sure do love you.”

Karen is survived by her loving husband, Maurice Emerson, and her four children and their spouses: Destanie (Tyson) Eggleston, Corey (Katie) Emerson, Sarah (Rob) Holt, and Ashley Emerson. She has 10 grandchildren.

Karen is proceeded in death by her parents, her brother Glade Luke, and her niece Wendy Morrison.

In lieu of flowers funeral expense donations are greatly appreciated. We would like to express our thanks to all who gave care and love to Karen.
